Often chickens will have a "favorite nest" when given many choices. Our 6 chickens have 6 boxes and they lay on the ground! Taking out some boxes would add some more room and roosting space. Great idea @gladahmae !

Is the roof on that thing water tight?
Might want to replace roof, include large overhangs, and add some ventilation at eaves.

Good examples of apron installation, tho I'd not recommend 1/2" HC...go with 14ga 1x2 or 1x1, will hold up much longer and is easier to lay flat.

Update:

We replaced the roof and removed all but one nesting box. Added two roosts. Need to replace one of the doors, but we ran out of sunlight, so the chooks are in the garage for a few more days. I have hardware cloth as a run roof and the plywood structure is in case of a heavy snow making the roof collapse. Obviously the run/coop still need skirting before they can be outside unattended. (And the roof run needs to be finished. Again, rain)
