Jersey Giants thread for pictures and discussion

This is the best I could do as far as pictures. I have narrowed down my choices to these two roo's. One has better defined edging on feathers...a longer straighter back...the other has darker color blue with a broader chest and tail flipped up more. I have to study their legs better but I know that both have yellow soles on their feet.

Wynette...I'll send you a email with more pictures...IF this one really shows up (picture) I'll be surprised. I always have posting issues with pics.

Note: The two are in front of the screen door...one is shaded. To the far left is a splash English Orp. Hope you can tell the two I'm talking about??

Thank you for the clarification, Walt. That is what I thought.

I have another question for you. About the "Splash," variety....
I can't remember where I read or heard this, but is it true that the splash variety is not accepted in any breed? Something about it being so variable that there can not be a "standard splash," because it varies so much?

The splash color does vary a bit, but there is a description for it.
This is the description the Modern Game Club is using for the qualifying meet at Crossroads. There seems to be difference in the eye color in other breeds. Some have reddish bay or black.

here's tonights close-ups of my 2 Jersey's which look SO different Im sure one of them is a boy. First one is very glossy black with nice thick tail, second one has been scruffy, missing neck feathers for along time, has what appears to be nice little comb and wattles showing up. Is the second one a boy??

I named them Penelope and Drusilla after two very distant Great Grandmothers. I may have to be changing Drusilla to Richard. Penelope's husband in real life.

Walt

Oh, so glad to know this! I guess I should just read my book more thoroughly. So, maybe some of the other breeds will attempt to get the splash variety accepted in the future.
Thanks, Walt!

How old are they? The first photo, I'm inclined to say she's super slow to mature.
Here's a photo of my JG at 10-11 weeks and she's definitely a hen. Her wattles are more developed than this photo shows. She's got her head stretched out so they too are stretched but they are much more pronounced on her then this photo shows.

Well, I'm hardly an expert and I only have the one JG. But I'd say give it more time. I agree that one is super slow and the second has a more developed comb. But not excessively and it's not very red. I'd give it more time.
