Well this incubator is officially full with 2 dozen on day 2 plus 4 silkies due earlier. my friends returning my other incubators so I'll pop the silkie eggs in the 10 egg one and keep the rest in here until lockdown when I'll split the Marans from the others

They’re set! 14 shipped silkie eggs and 4 of my own (which I think may be duds, but we will see!) to hatch July 4/5. I’m so impatient already and REALLY wishing I ordered 2 dozen eggs instead

Gave 6 Swedish Flower eggs to my broody bantam Cochin today; I think she will be a great mom.

I had a broody hen and my parents had a cockerel that they didn't think was doing the business so it just made sense to try and hatch them out . I set four mixed breed eggs on the 12th/13th (I think) so that sets hatch day at 3rd/4th July. I know two of the eggs are from Cream Legbar crosses and two are from two other birds that I hatched out a couple of years ago. I candled the eggs the other day and there is 3/4 developing

My cochin went broodie on 10th so maybe some on 1st thru 4th

I attempted to candle the eggs. I could see good development in 13 eggs plus there was one that started then quit. many are too hard to see in but it's nice to know some are doing well, especially two eggs the kids have already named

This little guy [guinea: 28-day course] has been in the incubator for 11 days, and was really dancing when I candled this morning!
I haven’t seen such quality in comparison to candlings of previous eggs, so I’m crossing fingers that this one and its hatchmate continue to develop well. (Each has lost 2g in mass since Day 0, this one being the first to drop noticeably.)

When I set my eggs I told myself I would be patient and not candle until day 8. Well, it’s day 5 now and I decided I NEEDED to just candle one lol. One out of one tested is developing! Yay!

LOL I am lucky if I make it to day 3 before I peek at one.... Most times knowing I won't see anything I peek on day 2 at 1. then on day 3 I check them all. LOL

well I have some colored eggs ordered that will be shipped on Mon so should have them on Wed or Thurs. That is 12 of them. Then I will pick up some OE eggs around then to add in with them. My last batch of chicken eggs I had 4 OE and only 1 hatched and just in case it is a roo I want to set some more. Think this will be my last hatch of the year. Then I just need to figure out who i am keeping and who I am selling with all the babies. I have already sold a lot of the 2 older groups but still have a bunch I am trying to figure out the sex of from my 11 week olds. I will be keeping a couple of pullets from that group. Then I have all the other batches (3 of them) to figure out who I am keeping and who is going. LOL
