Lavender Marans

I just bought a few chicks from Secret Hills Ranch in San Diego, CA and amongst the four were two French Lavender Marans.

Unfortunately only one made it through shipping but she/he is super cute!
Sadly, she won't have more for another three weeks so I decided to just order more chicks for my refund of the dead one, despite of her having any.
I guess I'll just have to order more in the future because I am so in love with how they look.

Not sure how dark their eggs will be as their website isn't updated but I hope it'll be a dark brown of course!

Here is Esmé:

Sigh, I really wish she had more so I could buy more ):
I guess the next time I order, I'm going to have to buy four!

Here are a few of our newest generation pullets. Egg color is presenting 2 shades darker with each successive generation. :) We culled really hard to get conformation correct, especially comb and eye color. They also have great feathering on their shanks, I'm pleased with this season's ladies. What do you think? :)

This is a great project. I too want to purchase in early spring. Can you tell us what number your egg color is at now? I think that is the hardest part of this project. Or the logest part!
