Lavender Marans

I just bought a few chicks from Secret Hills Ranch in San Diego, CA and amongst the four were two French Lavender Marans.

Unfortunately only one made it through shipping but she/he is super cute!
Sadly, she won't have more for another three weeks so I decided to just order more chicks for my refund of the dead one, despite of her having any.
I guess I'll just have to order more in the future because I am so in love with how they look.

Not sure how dark their eggs will be as their website isn't updated but I hope it'll be a dark brown of course!

Here are a few of our newest generation pullets. Egg color is presenting 2 shades darker with each successive generation. We culled really hard to get conformation correct, especially comb and eye color. They also have great feathering on their shanks, I'm pleased with this season's ladies. What do you think?

This is a great project. I too want to purchase in early spring. Can you tell us what number your egg color is at now? I think that is the hardest part of this project. Or the logest part!
