Yes, my ducks pools always freeze during the winter. If the ice is not to thick I just break it up with a hammer and take the ice chunks out then refill it with some warmer water. Sometimes when it gets really cold if freezes the pool all the way through there isn't really anthing I can do, at that point I just make sure their drinking water doesn't freeze.

Seen my first mandarin egg of the season today

Hopefully plenty more to follow, I have 5 ducks and 5 drakes this year, 2 pairs and 1 trio at the minute leaving 2 drakes and 1 duck, think the 2 remaining drakes are gay, seen them checking out the nesting boxes together and they never leave each other....

My wood duck has a few and I'm sure my mandarins are about to start, they are checking out the boxes a lot.

By the way if anybody has blue prints for their nest boxes or can share a good description of how they constructed them that would be very helpful
