Mille Cochin Info

Well mine are just 1 week shy of 6 months old now and getting even deeper coloring .....seems like they might be molting out to what they might really be.

The pair I kept of my MF hatch were mostly white . That change has been dramatic now. If I have time today to organize the pics from hatch to today later on I will put them up for comparison.

I uploaded some pictures of my two Mille pullets and my new Mille cockerel. I would like the opinion of anyone with more Mille Fleur and Cochin experience.
I think the roo has pretty good form; very broad chest and short back, very fluffy cushion (for a boy), lots of feathers on his feet and a nice comb. He is a little scruffy since he was in with several other roosters but is cleaning up nicely. He is about 6 mo. old. He has some beautiful vermillion in his hackles and saddle and some nice black in his tail. He has good chevrons in his chest but may be too red.
The two pullets are about 3 mo. old. The heavily speckled one has great color, even has chevrons on her feet but I am not sure she has good form. She is definately getting fluffier but her mostly buff little sister has a fuller cushion. The buff girl is getting more chevrons as she grows but that is not many.
Please tell me about my prospects

My guess is 1,2,7--cockerels and 3,4,5,6---Pullets BTw #5 has really intriguing color! Some heavily combed pullets can fool ya. Kiko had me thinking cockerel when young but she just grew to be more heavily combedhttps://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/17059_kiko.jpghttps://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/17059_kiko_050910.jpg
The top 2 are hers & Tanker's who hatched recently--https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/17059_dsc05084.jpg
The blue mottled is a split to mille fleur.

Thanks sackman! I'll take any input I can get! I have to say I was guessing the same as you, but now #1 has me thinking girl because the comb is still orange and hasn't grown! I'm stumped! I guess time will tell!

Your babies look a lot like mine. Where did you get them?
My little girl that was mostly buff is slowly developing lots more color, so hang in there!

Your buff girl, in the first pic., DOES look alot like mine. What age is she in the second picture?

I love them all. Your roo is esp. beutiful.
I think it is going to be hard to get the rooster color settled. Every one that I have seen is so unique.

Serendipity farm--your roos look very nice. The older one has nice compact shape and they both are on the right track for color. In places the chevrons are quite bold. If the younger one fills out his tail and begins the tail hump at the end of hackles (or even better if before), he'll be WOW! The hens look good too, some turn out with alot of white. While others are more solid but that can change. I had an almost solid pullet similar to the one in your first pic. Mine grew in more black chevs & white tips around 4-5 months.

I have an auction on BYC for a pair and then hatching eggs on Ovabid for those interested in Mille Fleur bantam cochins (plus some blue/black mottled)
