I wanted to share my duck coop I built this summer -fall (it took a long time lol). I have never built anything before and used all old wood sitting around the farm. Some from broken corals, old chop house ext. My expenses were the screws, 2 sheets of plywood and a used window I got at a restore. I even found a bucket of braces I used.
This is step one, me trying to explain the type of roof I wanted as the sun was setting on my dreams lol.
My first step was to build the floor. I used all 2×6 in the construction. Warped or not this thing is solid lol. No pic of that sorry.
I then did the short walls, and instead of plywood I decided to use old tie boards for the walls and I had lots and thought it would look nice
I then did the roof framing
And got a cool early snow storm so that was nice ....not...
I put some plywood on the roof, 2 bought one found. I have not put on the shingles but we re shingled the 2 houses on the farm so I have 3 bags left over that I will use this summer and finish it off.
I made the door frame, square even!! Added the window and threw my ducks in. They love it and I look at it every day and still cant belive I did that on my own. Well my 4 year old did help lots lol.
I still want to touch up a few things and add the shingles but I got snowed out.
I just wanted to say if your dreaming of building something but do not think you can, belive me If I can do that YOU CAN!! Just give your self lots of time and get building!!!!
