Yes the boxes at the top will be for ventilation. The window can also be opened. Below the window are the chicken door. The main door to the building will have a window . The door between the storage area and the coop is a screen door.

I'd use those round rods for perches in front of the nests and put some beefier roosts up higher than nests for sleeping.

Beautiful coop so far! Though, as aart said, I think you should put in some 2x4s higher up for the actual roosts. I notice there is a dowel above the nest boxes- and that is good- but your girls will get heavier and may want something wider to perch on later. The dowels do look heavy duty, but I don't know if it will sag as they both get older (both hens and dowel). The coop really is looking wonderful. I like the lip on the NB's... something I overlooked when making the egg access door.

Not that I really use it that often- I like going into the coop!

One of the younger hens started to lay eggs this week.
