Our new babies have definitely raised the curiosity level of our fur babies! The brooder is our labs old doghouse.

We got them from our local feed store. Started with 8, lost one our first night (early this am). My husband went to get a replacement (trying to cheer me up) and came back with not only the replacement girl but two new ones. We now have:

2 - Rhode Island Reds
2 - Buff Orpingtons
2 - Barred Rocks
2 - White Leghorns
2 - Black Australorps

They are all doing great now!

Wow, I never let my cat that close to the brooder when my babies are in the house!

Even though she just wants to sleep on the brooder because it's warm, I always chase her back into the living room where there are plenty of warm couches for her to sleep on!

Guess I'm just your garden-variety overprotective chicken-mama.

They are all allowed to peek in when the cover is on but never alone and NEVER ANYWHERE NEAR when the cover is off. I love my cats but they CANNOT be trusted with the cover off
