The Alistair Sim version in my opinion is probably the best version ever made. The only other one that I think is comparable is the Patrick Stewart version. Of course the Dickens' story itself is so good that it's been re-made many many times, not only in its original form but in numerous modern versions as well such as A Diva's Christmas Carol; Scrooged; It's Christmas, Carol, etc.

I've always been a Dickens fan so maybe I'm biased when it comes to the movie. I've seen Scrooged (that's the Bill Murray one, right?) but not the others you mention.

I still remember seeing the old b&w when I was a kid and being spooked out by the ghosts, lol.

@Michael OShay did you ever say which movie was your favorite?

That's a tough one and I'm honestly not certain which I like the best. It depends on what I'm in the mood for at the time. We've already watched the animated films on this list (as well as Frosty the Snowman) and they are certainly classics. We watched A Christmas Story night before last and it was funny as always. My daughter has ordered the Patrick Stewart version of a Christmas Carol from Amazon and it's scheduled to arrive this week and when we watch it, I'll think, "What a great movie." At some point between now and Christmas we'll certainly watch It's a wonderful life which is certainly an emotionally moving film with Jimmy Stewart doing a wonderful job in the lead role. And it has become a tradition in our house to watch White Christmas on Christmas Eve. I love the wonderful musical score of the film and the Vermont settings. Wow, talk about tough choices.)
