I did pretty well in genetics in college but have slept many nights since then but I think there is a little more to it than that or else everybody would have them. If I wanted blue palms, I would just buy them for a breeder like porter who has already done all the years of crossing and selecting different breeds to get there.

COLBYNTX is right. There is a lot more to it. I am out of coffee this morning, and do not want to think. The best I can do is tell you they will be split. You will get some in the next generation if you cross them back or to a royal palm.

A Royal Palm is a blackwinged bronze (B1) with grey gene (cg) and narragansett (ng) genes. b1b1cgcgngng

A slate is a black (B) with a dominate blue dilute (D) gene. BBDd

A self blue is a black with two dilute genes. BBDD

Black is dominate to bronze and blackwinged bronze in that order.

Genotype for Slate Blue Palm: b1b1cgcgDdngng (toms) or ng-(hens) Genotype for Self Blue (Lavender) Palm: b1b1cgcgDDngng (toms) or ng- (hens)
