Saipan, shamo and brazilian chicks

After some bad luck with the incubator I finnally had a few babys hatch out. Most are saipan some are shamos and some are saipan mixed with shamo or brazilian. Should be some really nice birds!

There right at a week old now, just starting to get there feathers in.

Looks like the first successful mating this morning. Ive seen one little guy trying for the past few days but this morning he mounted an older hen an it looked like he did everything right. At right about 4 months its pretty early, his dad wasnt even ready to try till he was 7 months. Just an early riser I guess lol he already gets up in the morning with the typical rooster attitude.

Hes also the biggest Im sure thats a factor in his early adulthood. He crowed for the first time last week and none of the other boys have even started to try.

Kind of a weird photo, he looks rough as hell for some reason, but hes perfectly fine. I did have to go check him though. Looks like hes got a black eye, but he didnt lol.

D3invertibrates you have the most interesting velociraptor-like birds ever! If I ever get a rat problem I'm getting these instead of a barn cat, and that says a lot coming from a cat person lol

Here is one of my Shamo hens on rat patrol. This bird is 9 lbs and that is not a mouse, it is a rat.
