Chick in a babyfood container to help "bring legs" together

Understanding Splayed Legs and incubation distress that easily leads to splayed legs

This condition has been associated with high humidity during incubation, but the results of our research indicate that higher temperature conditions during the last phase of embryo development may have a bigger impact. Splayed legs are also observed when newly hatched chicks are placed on slippery floors.

One more just popped out. That makes seven. Several more are in various stages of pipping or zipping.

WHY MEASURE CHICK YIELD?
• Chick yield (the weight of the chick at hatch as a percentage of egg setting
weight) is a simple method of checking whether hatch timing and incubation parameters are correct.

Still just my 2 chicks. Do shipped eggs take longer? Today is day#22.
no, did you calibrate thermometers? and you used humidity as a tool not a set number to achieve the correct weight loss?

I am so sorry, but what is the breed and can you tell us more about this incubation and your procedures? it may help us help you

no more pips?

yes I did and used 2 thermometers as well. I have a LG still air incubator and hand turned. I set 5 of my own eggs (2 hatched) & 15 Wheaton/BlueWheaton Ameraucana shipped eggs. Humidity stayed about 30-40% until lock down. Increased to 60 then...but constantly checking as kept dipping to 50%. I have purchased an automatic turner today for my next attempt.
