Still 3 hrs left on Day 21. I had one CL pullet hatch yesterday morning at 9:30 and another CL pullet and cockerel hatch this morning at 1:30. Those two made such a ruckus and played soccer with the other eggs that nothing remained in its place. They were 2 wet to take out and having the light on was attracting them towards me and create more disturbance. So I turned the lights off and went to bed. Woke up at 6 to find a bantam Chocolate Wyandotte hatch as well. He was still wet, but they started having a fit when they saw me, so I took them out, put the CLs in the brooder and the BCW on my tummy to dry for 2 hrs.

Now hoping that the soccer match hasn't killed the remaining chicks. They were all pipped when this happened and now they are on hr number 20 of the pip. I hope I won't have to help anyone! Very anxious! My wife will make fun of me but it feels like I am giving birth to these babies. Yesterday, she told me I was belittling her childbirth experiences.

Anyways its hr number 20 for the 3 bantam eggs that pipped. shall I wait another 4 hrs before intervening? I am hoping I won't have to just like the other 3! But I am really really worried about them because of being thrown around all night.

Promise will post some pics as soon as they wake up, all are resting right now.

I was about to open the bater, and one just started zipping, so I am going to wait out another 2-3 hrs. Lets see!

@starlingdaly Well patience paid off once again. It did take them the full 3 hrs I said I would wait, but all the pipped ones are out. So 7 of the 9 that went into lockdown are out. I will candle the remaining two later to see whats going on with them.

Chicks will be fluffed up in a couple of hrs as well. so will post their pics then.

Thanks everyone for all the help and guidance last night and today.

A friend of our up the road but a trail cam out there.... Yes, you get all the usual critters on there and everyone enjoys looking at them, then you see a strange shaped animal and can't quite figure out what it is you are looking at.... Then all at once it hits you.... It's a person! sneaking onto your property in the night, entering your coop and stealing a chicken! They really couldn't believe it. They knew that something was getting their birds... Like once a week they'd lose one... They kept reinforcing this and that, adding more boards, more fencing, more chicken wire... .nothing was stopping it. Plus there was never any real sign of something digging and no feathers or blood or anything.... No noises from the coop. Just "poof" gone.... So, that's when they put up the trail cam to see what the heck... And found their 2 legged predator! And they recognized him! A guy down the road that always comes around like every few months asking about any work he can do for money.... They figured he didn't need the $$ for food, since he always seemed like he at a soda cup with him from QT or some place... So, they figured he was a druggy or something and always said they never had any work to do. Then this... They did the same thing and staked out the coop after a few weeks had gone by with their dogs and only had to wait like 3 nights. Then the guy just brazenly walks up and opens the door! they cornered the dude in the coop and he was like, "Oh I'm just out for a walk and I heard something and thought something was bothering your chickens so I came in to look" while holding a chicken in his hands.... They hauled him off to the police station and they never had any other problems....
That is so distressing and it is why I lock the human and pop door every night. I use keyed locks on both. We have people that wander a little too close for my liking here. Between the lock and being out with the dogs every couple of hours, it helps deter wanna' be chicken nappers.

One of my ameraucana chicks that hatched on Saturday is having problems. : (. Weak, eyes closed most of time, gasping, empty crop except for clear fluid, bubbles come out of beak. I haves been rubbing crop and more bubbles come out. Adding sav a chic and massaging. Any tips? Since massaging started, gasping has gone down.

The only tip I can give is keep her warm while doing what your doing. I had a chick with the same symptoms the other night... sadly after about 45 minutes she died in my hands. still puzzled over why.... best of luck to her.. and you.
