Recently diagnosed with PCOS. Have had autoimmune issues all my life that worsened as years went by. I struggle with chronic infections (though can no longer feel ear infections as my ear drums are so scarred up....still very much aware of my adult acne though), fibromyalgia, TMJ and other chronic inflammation, "brain fog", memory issues, lipomas, greying hair since the age of six, and on and on. Many diets claim healing, but while I have found quite a bit of relief with a very paleo version of low carb/low sugar, I still have a long way to go. Paleo, like any of the diets out there, seems to work for some people to varying degrees, *but* the reasons why it can cause improvements seem to often be incorrectly interpreted.
Ie. Does buckwheat bran help many women relieve symptoms of PCOS because it is high in vitamins? Because it is high in d-chiro inositol? Because it can improve insulin sensitivity? Because it is high in selenium and can help bind up mercury? Because of other reasons entirely?
