To Eat or Not to Eat...Settling the Matter by Asking the Experts

Here are some of the reasonings I found:

Brussel Sprouts, Cabbage and Broccoli: Contain goitrogens agents that interfere with the normal production of thyroxine by the thyroid glands. This can result in avian goiters, immune deficiency, reproductive problems, decreased metabolism, lethargy, and skin and feather issues.

Kale: Vit A toxicity can occur at doses as low as 4X the DRA.

The lima bean issue is because they say that uncooked beans are extremely toxic and can kill in an hour and there is no anecdote. And, that most people don't know how to cook them properly to make sure that doesn't happen.

Okra: Some say it is the safest food you can give your chickens and others say it has low levels of solanine levels.

Cooked potatoes: I cannot find any reasons - just some saying yes and others no.

Citrus: Some say it is an old wives tale that citrus is bad for your chickens and others are sticking to the story. In any case, what is agreed is that the chickens probably won't eat it anyway.
