I mean, if it's effective, sure... This feels like quite a waste of an animal. You could at least make use of their fur, meat, bones etc after they have died. Just a thought. I think it would make more sense to just get an electric fence.

I have seen farmers fences with foxes hung on them, would it be for the same reason?
I never really considered that it might be to do a job.

Not realistic at all. If they're eating you lively hood, your paycheck then heck yes kill them. If they were after my chickens I'd shoot them . Coyotes will eat a newborn calf before he even can stand up. And they will be calving here in a few months. Some here have luck keeping they're Great Pyrenees dogs with herds to deter them .
