weird regional words...

I wonder if the tank/pond thing has anything to do with the Spanish word estanque? Said - S-Taan-Kay = Tank?

It means pool or marsh.

I'm from Oklahoma, and as twangy as they come. I say "pond".
I drink "pop".
"Beach" is a sandy area where people swim, but I fish off of a (uh) bank.
I say "bathroom" and drink out of a "water fountain"
Sometimes I say "swoll" or "swolled up", sometimes it is "swollen".
"Creek".
I say "gonna" or "gotta" feed the chickens.
Pronounce y'all more like "y'aw"
We "warsh" clothes.
I guess I don't use the g in ing. I say fixin or bringin, doin, goin, teasin, etc.

Foopa - The fat on the front of a person below their belly. Not gender specific. As in, "Their foopa was so big, they couldn't zip up their pants!"​
