Okay. Someone shared a picture of very light chalky orange eggs and said cuckoo marans laid them, so I was wondering if that was normal. Thanks!

Jersey Giant: Large brown eggs

Australope: Large brown eggs

Cuckoo Marans: dark chocolate brown eggs

My mom's Australorp lays a darker shade than my hatchery cuckoo did. Hatchery Marans don't hold a candle to the ones being produced by a breeder focused on egg color.

SO, I'd expect to struggle identifying which hen laid which with those three unless you happen to catch one at it and her egg shape/shade is distinctive.
