Who here is into Photography?

I LOVE the bird pictures! I hope one day I'll be able to take bird photos as nice as those!

What lens do you use to get the bird photographs? I would love to get a 400 or 500 prime lens, but boy are they costly! Some day I hope to have enough extra money lying around for my toys.

Right now I've got my eye on a nice little macro lens and a 50 mm. I use a 70-300mm lens but it's very difficult to get tiny bird photos unless I'm really close. It actually does a decent job of "macro" though...even though I guess that would be more like telephoto macro!

I took a bunch of photos yesterday of some flowers in the yard. Hopefully I'll get a chance to upload them soon to post.

Really? Wow! That makes me feel like I could do so much more with mine. My lens is not as fast as yours, but it does a somewhat decent job on a bright day. I actually like the quality of that one over my faster 28-135 mm, but that's probably because the latter was a kit lens.

I don't have many bird pictures (I need to get out with the camera more! It was a bit too distracting during finals!) but here are a few of some seabirds I took last year.

I was just practicing shooting a moving target with these shots and these were some of the better ones. I probably could've stood there taking these shots all day though. Quite a challenge!

I just bought a 300 f4 hoping to cut some of the weight when I am hiking but its no where near my 2.8 so it will be sold. I hate buying and then having to sell...grrrrrr

Besides the cost savings, the weight on the f4 makes it easy to put in the pack. I have a "glass taxi" bag that I like cause I can put the 70-200 and 300 on bodies and hike around.

Cute duck shots, I was SOOO bummed when we got our baby chicks. I had a ton of photo shoot ideas ready and when we picked them up, the feed store used paint to mark them on their heads...aaarrrgggg hot pink gooey paint that they had to grow out of.

I carry 3 bodies when im working, the 300 is on my D3, 70-200 on my d300 and the 17-35 on my D2X. I think we figured it out that I hump 60+ pounds on those days. Im on teh track for usually 6 to 9 hours ...and I feel im getting old haha, it gets HEAVY, especially when its muddy or I am in the woods.

I get paid to travel with 3 national series that handles Professional ATV racing. It has been a ton of fun the past few years but sure is alot of running. I was in NC last weekend, will be in Indiana this weeknd, PA the next....I dont think I have but a free weekend here and there till november but it pays the mortgage! Some of the non racing events are a blast, and there is always a shoot to do with riders for companies. I shoot for a few magazines, a website, and all of the manufactures. It is actually hard to get enough shots from different locations to cover everyone, thankfully my oldest son races and can usually help when he isnt on the track.

The fun part is that being paid, I get to stop off at areas in my travels that I couldnt afford to go to on my own dime.
