Needs significant detail as the bulk of it is about incubating experience, I would like to see more about proper feed, housing, etc, explaining the "why" behind things and not just showing pics. Very cute birds, though, and thanks for sharing your experience!
I would REALLY like to see more information on determining whether a chicken is overweight. Especially diagrams for keel condition, because I frequently see newbies misinterpret keel checks and think their normal bird is fat. I think that's just as important if not more than giving strategies for weight loss as newbies may use said strategies inappropriately. That said, important issue especially in backyard settings, and good article topic.
Good start! Could use some details, especially any about quail's relevance to backyard poultry keeping and their care, or more species and history overview, depending on which direction you want to go. Thanks for sharing.
Selecting chicken breeds needs more consideration given to comb type, as cold climates can't avoid frostbite via ventilation and vaseline - best to choose better breeds from the start. Additionally, deep bedding is more of a project than indicated here, and has to be managed appropriately. Overall, picking a few areas to focus on more may result in a more helpful article. Good formatting and thank you for sharing!
Well formatted article, would like to see some sources cited. Especially on ducks being hardier against predators - if anything, I've had a consistently opposite experience because they're not as nimble on land. So I'm curious where you heard that.
LOVE the "What I would do differently" section at the end and the thorough photos. More description would be nice but sometimes that's not available which is understandable. Thanks for the nice writeup and photos.
I really like the concept and also the impressive budgeting, but chicken wire isn't predator proof and there's no predator apron. Would like to see more pics too. Thanks for sharing!
