Great article with good information, however the worst predator here to my flock are Bobcats! They are brazen relentless hunters that can sneak like no other and patiently wait on the edges of the lawn and snatch the hens when they are close enough for a never fail attack.
Trust me, you are fortunate if they are not in your area.

Good article with good information.
We choose to allow the hens to rest when the daylight hours shorten. It's nice to give them time to rejuvenate their bodies, especially the older hens
after months of laying.
Typically, here most pullets will continue to lay through their first winter without additional lighting.
