Thank you! Your article was helpful, especially because the pictures were very clear. It was easy to see the ones that looked like eggs our girls have laid and then understand the possible reasons why.

Thank you for the interesting article and especially the photos! We just got a Cream Legbar puller, and it’s a new breed for us. I really appreciate the progression of the photos so I could get somewhat of an idea how she might look in the future and how she might have looked when she was younger. The egg is beautiful, too!

Thank you for sharing this! We have been keeping chickens (just a small backyard flock) for a little over three years. We just experienced our second loss about a week ago. It was pretty unexpected, unlike our first loss that we could tell was imminent. So it was hard in a different way. It’s helpful to hear other people’s experiences.

Thank you for sharing the pros/cons! We’ve never washed our eggs because we didn’t want to remove the bloom, but I always wondered what to do with the “icky” eggs. (Usually ones that got kicked out of the nest boxes and onto the coop floor.)

I have a related question - if anyone has an answer, please feel free to chime in. Do you mark the date the eggs were laid? We don’t refrigerate ours and we want to make sure we used them in the proper amount of time. If you mark the eggs with a date, what’s a safe writing utensil to use? I know I’ve seen images somewhere on this site of eggs with dates written on them. What is considered safe?

Thank you for this! It’s really helpful. Our first girls were RIRs and it was much easier for me to identify certain parts of their anatomy than it is for me to identify things on our two new Ameraucanas. They are just so different-looking! Your diagram really helped! It was better than ones I could find when I searched for chicken diagrams on the internet. Now I think I know what I’m looking at on my Ameraucana ladies!

I like your coop, and your birds are gorgeous! I’m looking through a lot of people’s information on their coops because with our growing flock we will need to expand our coop. One thing I really enjoyed about yours is the cute little signs you have. I think it’s make the coop so personalized! I never thought about adding something like that. Could I ask where you got them, if you know? I think it would be fun to add some to our coop someday.

The one on the coop came from TSC and the other two came from Amazon. Thank you for your review!
