Also for the grit, I just put half a handful on a can and let them peck at it. If they get it on the floor not a big deal as they can scratch it up and such a limited amount helps prevent chicks from over consuming (which can rarely happen with very young chicks). I do like to offer grit almost immediately in case they eat something weird (eg, their bedding or maybe a spider foolishly wanders by)
I do offer wet mash (sure, sitting with them in the primary way of making birds friendly but a little bribery helps too lol) and I bring them clumps of grass from the yard but that's to start getting them used to the germs in the soil but those aren't every day things
