This article and photos are so helpful! The 6 young hens we purchased are a "range" of ages from 3 mos to 6 mos, and I've been keeping an eye on their combs and waddles, waiting for them to be really red and large. From these photos, I'm thinking that my Australorps, Americauana, Sussex, and two mixed are maybe 3-6 weeks away from laying. Only two are really showing a comb and some waddle, the rest look a bit like most of these photos. It is very helpful to have a better idea of a timeline. Thanks so so much for this.
