Comb Progression: Prior to Laying
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Photo examples of my hens prior to laying.
Zela-Australorp, Butter-Delaware, Honey-Delaware,Pippa-Sebright Bantam, Lavender-EE Bantam.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Depending on its breed, a hen's comb will grow at variable rates.
In some breeds, prior to laying, the comb reddens and grows rapidly in size.
In other breeds the comb remains small and smooth.
Below you will find a small sampling of different combs prior to laying, at point of lay and after several months of laying.
