Excellent article, well written with great photos. The only thing I see missing from the article is which of these eggs can be consumed and which ones must be discarded.
I want a separate chicken pen for a silkie broody hen to hatch and raise full size chicks apart from my main pen. I'm using a 10x10 chain link dog kennel with a tarp top, butted up to the side of the existing chicken pen but needed a dry roosting and nesting area. I thought I would raise the storage unit high enough to put the nest boxes underneath. It's surprising that I can't find anything like your very well presented article in my exhaustive searches. Thank you.
So much information I did not know about egg storage, fresh eggs, and how old store bought eggs could be. Thank you for taking the time to present this information. I love the FIFO egg contraption. Think I'll have to get one.
Love the presentation, the information, the diagrams, the attached video, and the time it took to make this information readily available. Although this is not my first rodeo, I found out much about checking for physical signs of maturity. Newer knew there would be a way to check.
I will definitely be doing this soon. It will help in the winter and keep the smell and flies down in the summer. Right now I clean out the poop every 2-3 days.
