Yesterday morning the 2 cockerels had a big fight and both of them are a bit battered & bruised...
Baby-baby (5 months old) has been chasing the younger one (4 months old) for a couple of weeks, but not much more.
Yesterday when I went to give the birds their lunch Baby-baby was really dishevelled, covered in blood and absolutely wouldn't let us close enough to check him out, we could see that his left eye was closed and he's missing feathers on his throat and neck.
Found the other one about an hour later, hiding under the bushes in a very similar state!
A couple of hours later, the younger boy was in the coop and I managed to close him in. Went to get water, cloth, cotton wool and saline solution and we got him cleaned up and put in a cage on his own.
We caught Baby-baby at roost time, gave him the same treatment, looks like his left eye got scratched quite badly. He was still bleeding from his wattles and comb (having read forum posts yesterday, I put some flour on those bits after we cleaned them), and put him back in with the girls.
This morning he's looking slightly better, definitely got a black eye from the fight! I am going to wash him down again this evening.
The younger one is looking better, but is staying shut in today!
Photos are of Baby-baby this morning...
As a newbie I would welcome any suggestions...
They are my neighbours chickens and a vet is not an option!
Thank you!
