[FONT=georgia, palatino]We are first time chicken farmers, so right now this is one big experiment to us.
We started off with one hen and one rooster. We think the rooster is a Barred Rock mix and the female is a leghorn/rock mix.

Here is our rooster " Eugene Crabbs (a.k.a. Mr. Crabbs)

And here is our hen "Pearl"

I wish I would have found this site before getting my chickens, or before building our coop. None the less I am glad that I have found it.
We were given our chickens by a friend's mom, and boy was that not a good idea!
In the short time that we have had them (4 months) we have gone through mites, worms and a molting!!
After they have been in good health for awhile, we decided to bring in some company

[FONT=georgia, palatino]Two days before the chicks came in Pearl decided to go broody!
So it is possible that we will have more chicks, but with the temps so hot outside I do not know if any will hatch. Chickens truly are addicting!

Any ways here is another picture of the new babies! It is crazy how fast they grow up!

[FONT=georgia, palatino]Starting from the top left corner and working clock wise are: Polak, White Crested Black Polish ; Glen, Buff Silkie ; Pearl Jr., White Leghorn? ( I get confused on the yellow ones they look similar); Remmy, our other Buff Silkie; Betty, Red Star ( my buddy); Peach, Buff Orpington; and Squishy, Brown Leghorn.
