I want a Cayuga, Pekin and welsh harlequin, all female and I don’t want to pay a fortune! I went to order on Metzer, seemed reasonable until I went to check out. Shipping and small order fee.... that will be $95 please. Nope. I went to Michigan Backyards Chickens FB page and offered to put in the order, I’ll pay, they must pick up at my house and pay me at pick up. Within a couple hours I had 3 people that all live 45 minutes or less wanting in, 14 total ducklings. We split the $20 shipping and we skip the crazy small order fee. I take on the risk that they back out on me but I’m not that worried if they do, should be no trouble selling sexed ducklings locally. I also don’t need to travel for my birds. I saved over $55 doing it this way. Extra work but worth $55 to me and I get exactly what I want (well, maybe, as long as they actually turn out to be female!) I am obsessed with ducks and will definitely go this route in the future!
