Botulism

Without testing by a veterinarian, there is no way to know what was wrong with your rooster.
A nice share of anecdotal experience. The article would be rated higher with more detail. As it is there is a presumed source (maggots) and no mention of testing or rule out of other diseases to be certain botulism was the sole cause of neuromuscular dysfunction. The differentiating symptoms of botulism versus Marek (for example), the pathophysiology of botulism was not mentioned but would have made the article much more valuable to readers in similar situations as well as a future lead in to prevention.
Interesting story about botulism! I enjoyed the read.
Nice to read a success story.

Appreciate you're sharing your experience, gives us all insight as to the problems that can arise with summer temps ... It gets hot/humid here during the summer months more. Glad you were able to nurse your Roo back to health.
