I loved our coop from the local farm store.. but it just wasn't big enough. I decided I needed to make my own. It's 25 feet long and 8 ft wide. I used pallets. I set a $250 budget. I spent most of it in roofing and door.

Not so good without pictures or plans.

That looks nice and large! Did you line it with hardware cloth or are there boards inside? anything to keep small predators out? Around here there are weasels that can go through anything down to 1 inch!! I like this idea! i've seen yard fences from pallets, but usually when I see things built it's from wood taken apart from pallets, not just used whole!

We are in Texas and in a neighborhood in town. I don't have much rodent problem.. I did go around the entire inside top to bottom with chicken wire. I have a few areas that are open if we had rodents it could get in.. but if that becomes a problem I will chicken wire it too..

With pallets I can see a huge cost savings. Their use standing up provides security and air flow (with protection from drafts) that wire could not do.

With a semi-translucent roof it could be very bright inside!

I started to do a clear roof, but it wasn't as sturdy as the tin/metal.. we have hail frequently and I was afraid it could break it easier.
