Chicken Math Explained

I feel a little foolish (people smile, or even laugh at me) when I say I really love chicken, that I find them lovely and funny. I want them to be happy and feel protected and appreciated. So this article makes me feel I'm far from being alone in that love for these charming birds. So, thank you for your advice and your view about my little friends. (I have 3 of them: Olga, Harriet and Julie)

Because it really explains how from 10 maximun I have at the moment 15 and some chicks hatching soon and so hard to reduce because I just love the chickens and the chicks

True... true. Loved this well written article. My tiny dinosaurs also multiply. But I plan to stick to my New Year's Resolution this year... NO NEW CHICKS in 2026!

Fun article and a way to catch newcomers up on the vernacular/culture of backyard chicken keeping. Glad you mentioned the not-so-cute side of getting too many chickens for your infrastructure.

Perfect explanation!

Probably the best explanation of Chicken Math I've seen. It's well written and the pictures fit beautifully. The best part is that the explanation explains the hazards. and why we fall for them, without laying on the guilt. A very good read ... and fun, to boot!

This is a great article that explains the phenomenon of chicken math, justifies getting more chickens, and offers reasons to use a little restraint.

I fall for it every year when I'm hatching. I intend to keep zero, but that never happens.
