When we got 28 chicks in April (4 rare breeds, 12 Gold Links, and 12 Barred Rocks) little did we know that one would have a deformity. I tried to keep on top of holding each one a little each day, but it was hard to tell them apart. So I probably didn't hold each and every one. Once they were old enough to go outside and feathered out, we put them in the coop with our 4 silkies. This is where they all grew up until about 2 weeks before they started laying. We moved all but the rare breeds to our bigger coop. Until I noticed Snappy. She had a crooked beak. It curves off the right side. I thought it would be a good idea for her to stay int he smaller coop where she can live and still see her brother (Barred Rock who was supposed to be a pullet but turned out to be a rooster! That's a whole different story though) and 22 sisters. She still lives in the Silkie's coop with the 4 rare breed chickens. She lays and egg everyday for me to collect. In my whole two years of chicken keeping I would say Snappy is one of the most special chicken I've seen. Two roosters (Peep and Repeep) are housed in a smaller coop beside the Silkie's run/coop. I saw Peep this morning feeding Snappy as she has trouble pecking the corn off of the ground. Also one of the Silkies (Connie) was doing the same helping her to eat. I thought it was simply amazing that they would do this for her.
Thank you for reading and pictures will be uploaded later!
This is Snappy when she was smaller. About a week after I noticed her beak the first time..

She's the sweetest little chicken!
