It's the middle of March and the plants are popping out of the ground. I have Chives and Oregano coming up all over. I divide the chives up and plant around the outside of the coop and run. The Oregano spreads out along the run. The girls keep it trimmed and spreads like crazy.
I have three big Rosemary bushes that I pick all year long for the nests and coop. Helps keep the pests away and smells wonderful.
My four big Lavendar plants give me one good harvest of flowers and a small second harvest. I dry the stems and use the flowers throughout the year for the nest boxes.
My neighbor has a huge rose garden and she is always giving me bunches of sweet-smelling roses. The petals work great in the nest boxes.
Also, she has a large section with dandelions. The hens love these, the flowers and leaves.
I grow sage, thyme, and pansies too.
Duckweed grows in my two ponds and the girls love this stuff in the summer.
Tomatoes are a favorite, so I grow 4 or 5 plants and have a never-ending supply all summer.
