Overbuilt not overpriced Brooder

Wow! You will be happy it’s so big when they get bigger! Great job. My hubby made ours out of a taller, but not long like yours, shipping crate. He didn’t put a bottom on and we place it on landscaping fabric. We have the same top that lifts off. We tip the crate and sweep out old bedding. I like your because it’s short and so am I. Haha. Plus chicks can just run to one side as you clean the other. We have to catch ours. Thanks for showing yours!

Thanks for checking it out! I've made a few mods as time has gone on but it's mostly the same. Now that they are bigger and more comfortable with being fed by hand, the eager birds fly out and try to get first dibs when it's snack time! Layering the bottom with cardboard was clutch when it came time to clean it out. Went from the brooder straight to the fire pit. I did it while they were enjoying the sun outside. They get a little crazy when the tops open because it either means food or outdoor recreation! They weren't lying about the dust though. Maybe next time I'll wait till it's a little bit warmer and do it outside on the porch... I don't have any outside electrical outlets
