Hello BYCer!
My named is Cricket. I am a wife, student, business owner and farmer. I wasn't always like this though: I was raised around chickens and farming my entire life with my parents who immigrated to the US in the late 70s. Of course, being born here and an "awesome" teenager, I wanted nothing to do with that sort of lifestyle. Once I moved out and got married, my husband and I wanted to move out to the country and start our own little homestead. It seemed only natural that I would eventually end up back where I came from. I even live in the same town I grew up in when I was "awesome" lol. Now we live in Mason, MI and have chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, and cows. It is a total "reject" farm because most of the animals that we've acquired were from other people who either had abandoned or just plain didn't want the animals anymore, I love them regardless. We have a CSA program in the spring/summer and of course egg subscriptions to go along with them. Even with as many eggs as I get a day, I never have a problem getting rid of them!!
Yes, I participate in the hatching craze. No, I cannot do chicken math, I refuse.
