I currently have Rhode Island Reds and Buff Orpingtons. I am new to owning chickens and am so glad I made the decision to keep chickens. It is so much more rewarding than I had even imagined.

    Buff Orpington:
-I like how this breed lays well and are quite docile
-I don't have to worry about these girls flying over the fence due to their size
-They are usually quiet but seem to enjoy celebrating their egg laying (who can blame them?)
-My girls are 6 months old currently

    Rhode Island Reds
    -Beautiful red feathers
    -Seem quite quiet
-Are supposed to be excellent layers but I have yet to see this for myself as they are only 3 months old

Actually Whittni, I had tried to do that previously but I keep getting a message saying I don't have authorization to write reviews. I would be more than happy to give these 2 breeds more attention for people considering them

Good luck on your adventure! Maybe you can add reviews about the Orpington and Rhode Island so other people might consider them as chickens?
