Our chicken coop is called Fort Cluck. It houses 5 chickens is working really good so far. The coop or hen house has doors on all sides, in the front is where the chickens access the run, on the sides are two utility doors so I can clean, and in the back there is the door to the nesting boxes. We have a light in there for the winter is it gets to cold as well as two vents in the front. We might add some more vents later. We use bricks to keep the food and water up and right now the nesting boxes are blocked off because they aren’t laying yet.
In the run there is a ramp that leads to the door to the chicken coop that we close every night and open every morning we have a crate in there that was originally there for me to sit on but they seemed to really like climbing on it so we kept it in there. There is also a Home Depot bucket we keep grit in, they get on that to. The run is completely fenced in, even on the top because we have so many hawks and birds that will swoop down and eat them. There is a door for me to access the run which I prop open when they are let out for at least an hour everyday so they can run around and explore. On top of half the run is a tarp so they can stay dry during the rain or get some shade in the sun.
