We all love a good laugh now and then, and who better to give it to us than chickens?

Story 1.
"My Ameraucana has now been dubbed…”THE MIDWIFE.” My girls are just starting to lay eggs. She has taken it upon herself to escort every pullet that goes into the coop during the day, and stay with them until they lay an egg. She did it to my first layer (before she started laying), then she laid next, and she continued with my next layer. Today 2 new pullets have been checking out th boxes, and she immediately stops what she is doing to follow them in.

Coop activity: she just purposefully paces around the coop, darting her head out the door and back around, until they leave the coop. She is not making any noise during this time, it’s almost like she wants to show them where to go and make sure they are ok! It’s so stinkin cute!"

Story 2.

"One day, I watched my young pullet, happily pecking & munching bugs. Then she got ahold of a stink bug...her facial expression was priceless, a look of surprise, turning to sheer disgust, then she quickly spat out the nasty morsel, leaned down eyeing it closely, as if to purposely remember & embed in her brain, this horrid, offensive snack, then she walked away quite perturbed, shaking her head with attitude. The rooster stared at her quizzically, not knowing what to do...then he figured if she's mad, it's best to leave her alone. He mosied over to the not quite dead stink bug, leaned down to get a closer look, then must've gotten a whiff. He walked away slowly, also shaking his head & snorting. Funniest thing I ever saw! 🤣"

Story 3.
"Tater Tot, my buff orpington, is the last one out of the coop every morning. The others will already be eating, and she's still up on the top roost....then she begins with the rapid-fire BUK-BUK-BUK-BUK-BUK-BUK, hops down, and as if the door was a guillotine or she was jumping over hot lava, LAUNCHES herself out the door....then calmly joins the others at the feeder... Not the greatest story but it makes me laugh every time I see it."

Story 4.
"When I got my pullets, I thought they were just that. Pullets. But after faltering between genders with the 2 EEs, I officially crowned them roos when I saw them mating one of the hens. A round of coughing went through my group, and I had to quarantine a couple. One of them was called Princess Sandy and she was th ecutest little hen that ever lived after Whitelegs. RIP. Anyway, I immediately fell in love with her and couldn't stop cooing over how sweet she was. It was remarkable when she recovered in two weeks and she was sent back into the flock. By this time, dear old Sandy was stunning! She was so unlike her old scraggly self. I thought that she was going to lay soon by the look of her comb and wattle. Her colors were beautiful, but some very convincing saddle feathers appeared....the other day Orince Sandrew mated Winter. 🙄🙈🙃"

Story 5.
"This is not much of a story, but at least it's funny. Every single time when the hens need to lay, without fail the roosters crow. Every. Single. Time. I think they're announcing that their potential offspring have just been laid."
