Very handy if you can't do a more expensive option! Probably not too effective in a massive closed-in run like ours though, most likely better for smaller runs so the string can be pulled more taut. I would also be a little worried about escape artist chickens like ours who enjoy trying to fly over the fencing. Just a couple caveats to think about.

Using the optical illusion is brilliant! Will definitely be utilizing a version of this idea.

This is exactly what I've been looking for! Something inexpensive and simple rather than hanging 2"x2" avian netting or the 6"x6" hawk stopper netting.

hopefully this proved successful. hawks have finally discovered our chickens. We dont want to use bird netting because we dont want to harm other wild life in the process.
