I love this article! Some of the information I already knew from people I know who have raised or currently raising chickens.

When I cracked open my first farm egg. I thought there was something wrong with it. The yolk was orange! I never knew what the inside of a farm raised egg looked like. My hubby said it's orange because of what the hen ate.

I learned a lot since then and I want to raise birds myself!

Great info. I only disagree with one point, and that is the suggestion to cull a hen who starts eating eggs. There are ways to stop this behavior that doesn't involve killing. Roll away nest boxes are just one example. A caring chicken keeper has a responsibility to find solutions that preserve the lives of the entire flock.
