Jill is our adopted daughter who has been begging for chickens. Given her learning disabilities, we have tried to find many hands-on homeschool projects for her to enjoy. Caring for chickens and collecting eggs seemed like a great idea, so we are presently incubating 18 eggs (due June 27, 2007). They are a collection of breeds and we have candled them and seen those marvelous little babies moving around inside!

We live on a small hobby farm in Cuba, NY, where we raise a few alpacas and have a dog and two very nice cats.

If anyone would like to discuss their experiences with chickens and children, especially those with special needs, I'd love to hear from you.
