-A HEN HOUSE FOR TWO-
My backyard chicken journey began with a typical trip to a local hardware store. I walked in and immediately spotted a brooder full of various breeds of day old chicks. I dreamed of one day adding hens to my small urban garden for quite sometime now, but hadn't figured out all the logistics yet. I also was hesitant to order chicks with most minimums being 12 times the amount I wanted. Besides the fact I would have no idea what to do with their extra "packing peanuts." I spent the next couple days trying to figure out how to make my dream a reality. I set up a small brooder, bought supplies, and picked out my precious babies.

I had already saved many pictures of coops I really liked. I drew up ideas from different ones. The biggest inspiration came from the Garden Coop. I loved the clear plastic corrugated roof, great use of natural light. I also liked the open top of this design for ventilation. I can't thank my step-father enough...... he jumped right in and build the coop of my dreams for the girls.
