HALE MOA NA FUIAVA OHANA

Aloha! E komo mai e na Fuiava hale moa!
Hello! Welcome to the Fuiava Chicken House!

For nearly a year now I have wanted to have my very own hens as pets and egg layers. I researched and thought long and hard and then on my birthday I decided to call a local Feed business known for supplying local breed chicks. To my delight they had gotten week old fluffy butts in just the day before and they all had their shots... just waiting for a home! So I packed up my children and my mom and headed over to see exactly what they looked like. The moment the lid of the box was lifted I fell in love! There were so many to choose from... all different colors and breeds. I decided to get one of each in every color available and I came home with 4 of the cutest chickies ever!

To my great surprise they all have the most amazing personalities and are so clever! I kept them in a plastic bin with a wire cage around it for the first 2 weeks but quickly noticed that they had doubled in size and were now *fighting* for space. So just this afternoon I turned an old playpen into their new home. All it needed was some straw and my old parrot toy for a place to roost!
