Additional Information | Chapter 6:2-29 states you can have chickens. No rabbits or fowl shall be kept within the City except in accordance with the requirements of this Article. Chapter 6:2-30 states you will need a permit. A permit shall be required for the keeping of rabbits or fowl in the City. The permit shall be obtained from the Director of the Department of Health and Human Services, and shall expire annually on December 31. Chapter 6:2-31 states what the permit fee is. The fee for a permit under this Article shall be ten ($10.00) dollars. Chapter 6:2-33 states where you cannot keep chickens. Under no conditions shall any rabbits or fowl be kept or maintained in multi-family houses or multi-family house yards, or in any dwelling house, or in any part thereof. Chapter 6:2-34 states regarding RUNNING AT LARGE PROHIBITED; COOPS OR HOURS REQUIRED: No fowl or rabbits shall be allowed, under any circumstances, to run at large. They shall be kept confined in a suitable house or coop with an enclosed runway. ( Chapter 6:2-35 states regarding SPECIFICATIONS FOR COOPS AND RUNWAYS; SANITATION: a. The house or coop referred to in the preceding section shall be floored with cement or other watertight flooring. The runway shall not be floored. b. Such house or coop must be kept thoroughly clean at all times. It shall be cleaned at least once in every week, and more often if the Health Officer shall so require. c. No part of such house, coop or runway shall be less than twenty (20) feet from the doors or windows of any premises occupied by human beings, whether for dwelling or business purposes. Chapter 6:2-36 tells us plainly, Roosters are not allowed: It shall be unlawful for any person to keep or maintain roosters within the City. |
