And I definitely don't recommend the vent sexing, as you already said. Pro vent sexers don't seem to be right even 85% of the time anyway, (or at least the vent sexers that do my store's chicks.)

Great article Pippin! You covered so many things in this article. Thought the golden ring method kind of works. I tried it with the fully grown hens (and roosters) and it actually worked (it also worked with a dog, cat, rabbit and even me) Anyway you did a great job on this article!

I would like to put in for future silkie keepers that while gender traits can start to pop up at around 6 weeks of age, don't get rid of your "boy" silkies yet because at that age a lot can still change. Until three months, I am still guessing at my silkies' gender.
