Plastic waterer on standard heated base . .

Interesting option.
I love this idea! It appears to be incredibly simple, and all I need is the wood spacer and the heating element. My intent is to use the gravity filling cups even during the winter; I have been wondering how to make that work when the temperatures lower. I would note that I initially didn't see what kind of heater it was (I had to recheck the pictures); perhaps make a more obvious note for people like me.

The cups may still freeze? The type of waterer I’m using has the drinking basin within the range of the heated air created underneath it. Cups or nipples might be more subject to the airspace around them . .
As for the heater, I didn’t mention a name because I’ve seen the same heater from multiple sources/brands. I have since found a similar heater made FOR plastic waterers, but if was $85 - too much for my budget.
Nice job! the woodworking looks really good!

Including links would be helpful, but otherwise looks good!
Great article! I will have to look into this idea further! I would’ve liked to see some more information on your base and maybe some cost comparison with your method vs heated waterers 🤔

I didn’t compare prices, since I was just trying to use what I already had. These heated bases are common at the feed store, and it let me use the waterer I’ve had for years. I really like the Little Giant waterer. This makes it easy to convert from one season to the next - all I have to store is the base.
Well done.
