I think you did a wonderful job on the coop. Like you, I'm all for recycle & reuse stuff if at all possible. We have ours in an unused horse stall. I like the way that you have the clean-out under the roosts and the nest box setup. If I were to build a new coop, I would consider both. The picket fence gives it a nice look, too.
While I enjoyed reading about the provenance of the building and it’s updates, I think the best part was the continuing story - I really loved that you kept updating the article to include both the good and bad things about it through the seasons.
This is the type of practical information that people really need to build or develop a coop. Well done!
Oh and ps that rusty roof is to die for!
What a great built! That looks like the »Happy Chicken Inn« hotel. I love the exterior look, it looks like a saloon from an old western city. I wish something like that would work for my ducks. Maybe i should steal your ideas and then tell my wife "Now that we have this beautiful coop, we just need some chickens"? As a chicken, i would want to live in such a stylish and safe home!
I loved reading and seeing the making of your coop and run. So many well thought out ideas and plans, the pictures were helpful. It is clear to me that your chickens are happy and well cared for. Thank you for sharing this.
