"Grass. Trees. That's pretty much all we could see for miles. We thought it was wonderful at first, after being in the two-leg cat prison for so many moons. We ran and played, but then dusk fell. We heard noises we had never heard before. We were hungry. None of us knew how to hunt or fight in the wild. Hunting in the two-leg gardens was different. Easier. None of us knew if we would survive. I was a young kit then, just like you" the old grizzled elder told the kits. They thought it was just a story, something made up. But the old cat remembered it well.

What happened was, the cats were dumped into the forest by a lazy pound worker that didn't want the yowling beasts around anymore. He didn't think they'd survive. He didn't want them to, but they did.

We have just been dumped. We are one of the beginning cats. We know nothing of ranks...yet. We are used to the soft, pampered life of a kitty-pet. How can we possibly survive?

RULES:
Names will become 2-part, and will be assigned by leader.
Start as ....kit. At 6 moons, it becomes ....paw. Then, it becomes whatever the leader says. If they become leader, it is ....star
What I say goes.
No Mary sue characters. No cat is perfect, nor perfectly evil.

Medicine cats can take a mate, unless they are the only one. If there is only one med. cat (Not counting apprentices), the medicine cat may not take a mate.
No human cuss words allowed, but cat "curses" are.

Fresh-kill: recently killed prey

Gathering: a meeting that the Clans hold in peace at every full moon

Greencough: severe chest infection, which can be fatal in elders and young kits

Halfbridge: a dock

Horseplace: fields and stables near the lake where half-tamed cats live

Mouse dung: an insult; stronger than mouse-brain, but less offensive than fox dung

Nofurs: another word for humans

One moon: one month (half moon = two weeks, quarter-moon = one week)

Rogue: a potentially hostile cat who lives outside the Clans and never spends too long in one place

Sharing tongues: term used to describe cats grooming each other

Silverpelt: the Milky Way

Sun-drown-place: the sea to the west, where the sun sets

Sunhigh: noon

Thunderpath: a road

Tree-eater: bulldozer

Twoleg nest: a human house

Twolegplace: a human town

Twolegs: the Clans' word for humans

Upwalkers: another word for humans

RANKS (To come)
LEADER
If someone is granted the title of leader of their Clan, they get the suffix - Star added to their name and leading responsibilities of their entire Clan. The leader must speak to the Medicine cat and Starclan and receive their nine lives and name to be an official leader.



DEPUTY
The deputy is a cat who is second-in-command after the leader.
They are in charge of organizing hunting and border patrols, and will become leader after the Leader dies.
In that case, the new leader should appoint a new deputy before moonhigh (midnight)


MEDICINE CAT
Medicine cats are a special group of cats that can easily stand outside of Clan rivalries and such.
They are trained by their mentors, in the way of healing and interpreting signs from StarClan.
A fully-trained warrior can take the job as a medicine cat or medicine cat apprentice; like in the case of


WARRIOR
A warrior is a tom or a she-cat not nursing kits that are trained for combat and hunting.
If the leader thinks that they are responsible enough, they are in charge of training an apprentice.
Warriors defend and feed their Clan.

QUEENS
A queen is a she-cat that is nursing or expecting kits. They will sleep in the nursery until their kits are apprentice-aged; they will move back to the warrior's den and duties then.

APPRENTICE
Apprentices are cats that begin training to be Warriors at six moons old.
Their mentors train them in the arts of combat and hunting, and they usually bring clean bedding and prey to the elders. Their names always end in the suffix -paw, and when their mentor and leader think they are ready, they recieve their warrior names.




KIT

Kits are kittens; under six moons and living in the nursery.
They are not allowed to hunt or leave camp alone, and their names end with -kit.
When they reach the age of six moons, they become apprentices.


ELDER
An elder is a cat that has retired from their duties, and is cared for by warriors and apprentices.


LONER
A loner is a cat that doesn't live with a Clan or Twolegs.
They sometimes live in pairs or small groups.
(Often don't have 2-part names)

ROGUE
Rogues are like loners, only they are more hostile or were banished from their Clan.
They sometimes live in small groups as well, but usually travel alone or with a mate.

KITTYPET
Kittypets are housecats; living with Twolegs.
They usually do NOT go into the forest, except for a few occasions.
